Why is Rosetta working on units due 5 May 2012 when I have a large number of 2 May 2012 units which haven't even begun? It seems like it would select on a FIFO basis. I also run two other BOINC projects and I don't want to waste precious clock cycles on units that can't complete in time.

Not sure why you feel they can't complete in time when both deadlines are more than a week away.

The decision of when to run a workunit is made with the BOINC Manager. There were a number of scheduler and work request enhancements made in the 7.0.25 version that has just come out recently.

I see you currently have a boatload of tasks downloaded. On the other hand, your machine has 4 CPUs and a 3 hour runtime preference. So in theory if you don't have any other BOINC projects going, you can complete over 200 tasks per week. With the two other projects you mention, it will depend on the resource shares you have assigned. But I would encourage you not to try to help BOINC too much unless you see tasks actually beyond their deadlines. It just confuses it on how much work to request for the upcoming days.
