I just tried showing the graphics for a Mini 3.19 and all I get is a black window. Is anyone successfully seeing the graphics? I am on Windows 7 x64

Shut down BOINC for a minute (not left in memory), then restarted it.

The progress dropped to about 20.7%, then resumed. I'll watch to see if this workunit completes properly while I drain the queue to switch to BOINC 7.0.3.

Looks like the problem with no longer using CPU time is still here under 3.19, and I need to consider telling that computer No new tasks for Rosetta@Home until the next version is available.

When I manually start graphics for the workunit mentioned above, I get a window that is all black inside. However, it disappears about a second later, leaving no graphics at all.

Same here on mac.
When I first start the graphics it closes immediately. The second time it just hangs and i need to restart BOINC to get rid of the graphics window.

I've read something that may be relevant to part of the graphics problem:

You get somewhat different results if the graphics is started directly by BOINC than if it is started for the application program.

If it is started by BOINC, it's given certain security settings that permit BOINC to shut it down when no longer needed.

The application program is not given sufficient security settings that it can pass this type of settings to the graphics program.

I don't recall ever seeing the screen saver graphics come up for the Rosetta project with 3.19 running but all my other Boinc projects with graphics show up.

with 3.19 I have lost all the beautiful graphics on my screensaver. I tried everything, but I just don't get it. I don't know about Rosetta, I am no a scientist, just want to help science and before I got all these beautiful rotating colored proteins as screensaver. Now I just get blank dark page, like I am using the blank screensaver. If this continues, I might stop my Boinc, or go to another project that will give me a screensaver.

Can somebody please tell me how I can bring back graphics. When I click on "show graphics" for any of the projects, I just get the black page.

Another question, can I choose another rosetta project that will have graphics. as somebody not knowing anything about Rosetta, when I read the thread it sounded like it is only 3.19 that gives me blank page. Can I change to any other project?

The last I knew, Rosetta was using mainly 3.19 on all their projects, and didn't offer any choice of which projects anyway.

Same here, with minirosetta 3.19 on win 7 x64.

Rosetta graphic window closes/gives black screen/hangs.

Boinc screensaver gives black screen when rosetta runs.

Behaviour is the same logging both as restricted user and as administrator.

In win 7 x64, rasetta graphic, rosetta client and boinc client are separate processes, so rosetta graphic can be killed, using task manager, without affecting neither rosetta client nor boinc client.

ŮŽafter waiting for a week for Resetta to get back the same nice screensaver, I have stopped it now on my computer and instead am using two other research projects that give nice screesavers while working in the background. Sorry Rosetta.

So how to access Rosetta's application program directly?

BOINC should be starting the application program as it starts the workunit. However, if you can find it in the BOINC directories, you should be able to start it yourself - if the workunit was designed to let you.

There's often a separate graphics program, though, and the way this program is started needs to be looked at if BOINC cannot control it properly.
