Quite frequently the Rosetta@home server seems to stall out in communication and handing out new tasks. Is there someone with a clue, or is it just not a funded or high priority issue? |

When work is available, I am not aware of any communication issues dropping connections or forcing retries etc. What are you seeing? ...but at the moment there is not work available. Rosetta Moderator: Mod.Sense |

Well, then, that makes sense why none is coming down the pipe. I've gone ahead and added the Docking@Home project to take advantage of the unused cycles that Rosetta would otherwise use. Some days they have plenty and other days they seem to run out if you were to micro manage a little bit you would be okay until it gets more consistent. For instance right now there are 107,508 units ready to send, but yesterday evening I saw there were 5! If I were to increase my cache for Rosetta this morning I could get a ton of units and be good for awhile! Then I could change it back after I got the units. |

I gave up on making Rosie my sole crunching program due to this very problem of a lack of work, no communication and general ignorance by the group of tech people that run this program. The percentage I give Rosie is still the same, but I have added in Poem@home and for variety Einstein@home which uses data collected from the LIGO location at Hanford (primary reason for adding this project) and other locations. I also added in Milkyway@home for some more variety. If Rosie runs out of work then one of these projects takes the lead until Rosie gets some more work. |
