this week I got sth like: 2010-10-30 15:34:23 rosetta@home Requesting new tasks many times so I used the "Update project" with no success. Many times. Then I clicked the "Restart project" and everything broke down as shown at my computer's task list. I even quit the project in my BOINC app, reinstalled the BOINC app and rejoined the project in it. Still, the "Project's" tab says that it'll connect/contact the server again in um-teen hours. And nothing changes. |

Well, you've shown the key messages there. You ARE requesting work, and not getting any back (sometimes if you hit update too frequently those two facts are not the case). Yes, if you detach from or reset the project, BOINC aborts all of the work you have on-hand. Your task list shows a number of MD5 check failed messages. Further back in your history I see some tasks that reported that maximum memory was used and they ended abnormally. And of your completed tasks it looks like they were restarted many many times. If a task is restarted 5 times and has made no progress (i.e. not reached a checkpoint) then it is aborted for you. The assumption is that there is either something wrong with the task, or your machine is not a good fit for running it. So, I suggest two things, first that you review your BOINC Preferences, specifically the disk and memory tab. What have you got for your memory settings? The next thing to do is address the MD5 and signature verification errors. These indicate that the objects you are trying to download have been corrupted in some way. The data that is arriving at your end is not the data that was sent from the servers. One reason this might occur is virus scanning software, another is a poor network connection or a malfunctioning firewall or router. Have you rebooted your machine since these errors began? Sometimes that can clear up network problems. Rosetta Moderator: Mod.Sense |

O.K., I wanted to wait a few days and finally yesterday I forgot to paste here the messages from BOINC, cause it still was giving me errors with MD5 and checksums. Finally today I got 1st work and finished as shown here: https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/results.php?hostid=1354000 P.S. It started few days before my going back home from my dormitory. At home it still didn't work. But yesterday I came back to my dormitory. And the result is above. Second fact is that I barely could download any setup file to install [Firefox, Disk Defrag, Java, CCleaner, ...] (at home), almost every was broken. Here all worked fine. Could it be something with my router at home? |
