I installed BOINC on two of my computers. On one of the comps everything is working fine. On the other comp I get the following messages: 8/23/2008 8:00:24 AM|rosetta@home|Sending scheduler request: Requested by user. Requesting 7145 seconds of work, reporting 0 completed tasks 8/23/2008 8:03:02 AM||Project communication failed: attempting access to reference site 8/23/2008 8:03:03 AM||Internet access OK - project servers may be temporarily down. I am also attached to the SETI project and that project is working fine crunching away. One thing I did notice was that in the Projects tab my account name only appears for the SETI project and not the others like R@H. On my other computer my account name is listed for all the projects. How could I fix this? |

It sounds like you should detach from the project. Then attach again. Be sure to make the selection for "existing user", when it askes. Rosetta Moderator: Mod.Sense |

Did you select the project URL from the list? Or key it in? From a command line can you: ping boinc.bakerlab.org If not, you have a network issue. Rosetta Moderator: Mod.Sense |

Did you select the project URL from the list? Or key it in? I selected it from the list and I can ping the site as well. |

Well, there has been work available, the servers have been online, the project URL appears correct, the client is requesting some work, the client can PING the server, and access to the reference site (Google) shows BOINC's internet connectivity is fine. ...so, it should be working! Has this machine been rebooted recently? What operating system do you run? Rosetta Moderator: Mod.Sense |

Ok, so what are the differences between your two machines? The one that is working, and the one that is not? Sounds like you are installing the same version of BOINC? Both machines are running Win/XP? Do they both use the same network to access the internet? BOINC was a new install on both machines? Both are using the same user and password information on Rosetta? I have a Win/XP computer that uses FreeProxy to get to the internet. All browsers successfully use the proxy. But Boinc gives that message: Internet access OK - project servers may be temporarily down. I know the servers are not down, because I can switch to a hardwire connection and this same computer gets work. If I ping boinc.bakerlab.org, there is no connection. If I ping the IP address, there is no connection. I have used FreeProxy with Boinc before, what setting am I missing? |

I don't know on that one. If you don't find anything, you might post a new thread including "FreeProxy" in the title on the Number Crunching board. There are probably others that have worked with it. And they will be more likely to see your post there. Rosetta Moderator: Mod.Sense |

Is this perhaps what you need? Rosetta Moderator: Mod.Sense |

Thanks, that did work. I created a cc_config.xml file, set that ntlm option, reread config file, and in a few minutes boinc 6.4.6 connected through the proxy. |
