Hi, I newly joined the Rosetta Project although I'm not the scientific girl - I always was bad in Maths, Chemistry and so on but I had several reasons to join though:
1st: I mistook Rosetta at home for The Rosetta Stone language site ;-) because I love languages and want to learn some more (or are you hiding some courses of that kind somewhere? ;-))I'd like to learn Arab and Dinka...
2nd: The idea behind Rosetta@home seems very appealing to me - helping science to find ways to stop cancer and other diseases and also discovering life on other planets ;-), helping social projects and so on.
3rd: My boyfriend Machok is a science student from Sudan - he wants to study Electrical Engineering over here in Germany for afterwards doing his country some good with his experiences obtained in a foreign country. He's only got problems in financing his studies - he and his family could do quite well financing it, him working besides his studies and them contributing from time to time what they can give if there weren't the German visa rules saying that they have to declare officially responsible for him (which implies that they have to give regularly and a certain fixed sum and that hey are responsible for everything that goes wrong and also have to care for his medical treatment if he needs any and which is very expensive over here - I myself couldn't do that) and/ or forward a deposit of 7020€ and leave it on a bank account in case the government wants to expell and send the student back to his country. I thought it quite useful for him to have some access to this program of Rosetta at home as he is a maths' and sciences freak and when he should be able to buy his own laptop I will get him to join in here.
Perhaps some of you can give me some hints what to do next with Rosetta?
Kind regards and take care all of you

Well, let's see, you've joined, you've installed BOINC and are successfully returning results, you plan to participate on an ongoing basis, you have apparently figured out how to use the message boards... and you're going to get a friend to join as well. You know? That about covers it! Welcome aboard.

You may want to review some of the papers and technical information available from the links on the homepage, but, as you point out, you don't have to know the math (more physics really) to help out.

Watch the message boards, ask questions, read Dr. Baker's journal (link on homepage), learn more about what the goals are so you can better express what the project is about to other friends and get them to help as well.

Thanks for answering, Sir - I'll try and find out all about science with Rosetta and pass it on.

Kind regards
