After more than four weeks of constant brutal heat (i mean, man, real heat) it's now raining for a couple of days; but now some really *serious* rain has started:

My hometown, Düsseldorf, is right in the middle where the colour has arrived the upper end of the spectrum...

Doh, i really have to go down to the basement and check if all is ok or if i need to call up the fire-brigade so that they can pump out my cellar...

To complete the topic about the heat: Scientists finally found out that global-warming leds to higher energy demand. See my rant in my blog: http://www.bloglines.com/blog/ITnomad?id=136

Happy swimming,
Alex.

Strange, I'm in the north of Cologne and we have only lite rain but not really much, the ground still can absorb it. A few lightnings and thunder too, but not so wild either.

I'm not a real Cologne person (and I prefer Alt over Koelsch) so I hope it doesn't get too bad there.

It all started in the Niederhein-Area, i friend of mine from Neukirchen-Vluyn told me at 2100CET that his kitchen-sink spits out bad-smelling sewer-water.
I was quite startled cause we just had a bit of rain.
However, it got really bad in the last hour. My cellar is still ok though... (toitoitoi)

Good for you! :-)

It was 46c here the weekend before last. I would have been happy to get a lot of rain afterwards :) Here being about 2 hours east of Seattle.

Now that is getting hot. I always suspected Seattle had similar weather to Melbourne. I'm getting a bit worried what summer will be like here given we can get in to the 40's in a normal summer.

Worse too, I suppose, Melbourne's reservoirs are down to around 45% full and they told us the (five year) drought had broken!

I guess that's why the poet said, "A land of drought and flooding rains...."

And that's why I love BOINC: "A tool helpful for biology and climate calculations - for mankind."

(O.k., I'll never grow a poet...)
