I'm Donating my two computers one full time and one part time for what I've been told are two very important projects. If number crunching is a key eliment, my hope is that David Baker and others contact NASA and put in for some of that free supercomputer time they have offered.

Mr. Ed, do you have a link to information on the NASA offer?

Dr. Baker did mention previously they had won the largest ever award of time on BlueGene I think it was. But it was still only equivelant to about 2 weeks of crunching on Rosetta@home. So, the day-in and day-out contributions of your 1+ machines being there consistently is actually of greater value to the project overall.

2chemp, welcome to Rosetta!

Ed, are you 42 miles north of Ogdensburg, NY? I've seen mr_ed at USALug.

No I live just outside of New Haven ct.They could get a lot more people than they already have crunching numbers if they would only advertise tnemselves on some of these national Educational Networks or tech talk shows,a lot of the youth today are using or will be owning high end processors for gaming I'm sure if explained to them how there computer can crunch numbers for a very worthwhile cause as well as do gaming,I'm sure they would donate there computer time.

The national and international media coverage is already quite remarkable. The gamers are quite well representented in our statistics. Distributed computing isn't everyone's cup of tea for various reasons.

Ed, perhaps you could help Rosetta to get more exposure. It's really a team of scientists. So, their PR skills are somewhat lacking. But if you can send out some feelers, and explain the basics to an organization, kind of lay the groundwork, Dr. Baker has always made himself available for interviews. But it saves him TONS of time if you get them calling him wanting to run a story, rather then the other way around.
