No, I will cleanout their computer of viruses, spyware, adaware, and other malacious and unneeded software and then install avast, zonealarm, and adaware SE and then defrag the computer all for $50. When they bring their computer to me, I will explain what Rosetta@Home is and ask if they want to help the project and explain what it will be doing and how it will affect performance. If they say yes, I will install it and attach it to Rosetta. I really wish it could auto update though because I may not have access to these computers for at least another year if you know what I mean. |

You can always give them written instructions on how to update Boinc, save their email addresses, and send them out notices with the url for the updated Boinc client. (Or send directions out in lists... one list with instructions for screensaver installs, one list with instructions for service installs, one list for manually running the app.) |

...save their email addresses, and send them out notices... It's a marketing opportunity! The notice says "Thanks for your business and for allowing us to setup Rosetta on your machine. There is an update now available for the software that is doing this vital medical research... and for another $10 we can install this update for you." ...for the Gnome... I really trying to make a joke here... but perhaps it does make some sense... "It's been a year since we cleaned up your computer. This is a reminder that regular maintenance will help extend your computer's life. It's time to bring it in for a going over." Does anyone have a nice little letter explaining Rosetta and BOINC that I could send out to my division? We've got 62 lab machines, 8 instructor classroom machines and 15 personal machines. They're all 3 gig w/1 meg of ram and I support them. If anyone has something they've written out that I can send out to the division, that would help a lot. (This is a Mathematics division, if it were an English division, I'd be able to write the letter myself :) ) |

I think we could do a really good job of this - we have all the info between the members of this board. I think it might work really well as a htm page so that people can expand sections if they want to show the full text, or just read the summary. That way the same doc can be used for those interested in what Rosetta is about, or those interested in what it'll do to their network and computers. I made a start but I've been so busy recently - this might be the prompt I need to get it movin again! |

Well, we were working on a letter to send out for people to explain Rosetta to a friend. That should be a good draft for anyone that wants to take it further. So we made it in too parts, the first to be sent as an EMail and it would then link to the second for people that are interested and want more detail. I'm always glad to see people interested in spreading the word! Crunch more Rosetta!
