Message 102607 - Posted: 14 Sep 2021, 19:23:16 UTC

I have started getting "rosetta python projects (vbox64)" tasks and none of my PCs are set up for boinc on virtualbox.

Are all the tasks going to be virtualbox and is there a way to opt out?

Thanks,
Neal

'cause is not possible to choose the app in user's profile, you must use the app_config file

Is there an example of what to put in app_config.xml?

Thanks

Edit:

If this is still accurate [1], then you can stop tasks from running, but they will continue to download and accumulate. The vbox64 tasks already generate download errors and delete themselves from the queue before trying to run.

I've got one running right now. No download errors or anything.
On track to complete in 8 hours.
Using about 41% of one core.
Clicking off 10 seconds computation time for every 2 seconds real time.
Progress is .011% completion every 2 seconds.
(Boinc Tasks by Emfer showing me this)

How much RAM is it using?

https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/result.php?resultid=1426186874
That's the one that I described that completed.

Current one running now is 97% of the core, 7629.39 MB memory, completion rate is the same as the other. .011 per 2 seconds

The memory demand of this is more than LHC ATLAS which is also VBOX and using 4 cores. That is always a fixed 6600 MB task.

It might just be the luck of the draw for you.
I see some stuff in another project about this kind of error, but right now I don't have time to look into it.
Can you see what the task name is at all or any other info about the batch that is causing trouble?
I am running aaaf-SAR-pp etc tasks with no troubles.

I continue to download (and fail) the aaaf-PTAMBA_pp wus.
Do you think this is the problem??

Maybe.

<error_code>-119 (md5 checksum failed for file)</error_code>
<error_message>MD5 check failed</error_message>
However that error code indicates data corruption.
I'd suggest re-booting your modem & the computer, then see if the errors continue.

Looking like it's a server side problem.

First of all it has been reported in another thread: http://srv1.bakerlab.org/rosetta/forum_thread.php?id=6893&sort=5

VDI is not the task itself, that is a server side virtual machine error.
It's a bit complicated, I would have to go track it down on the web.
It's not your system. I found a possible solution on Einstein, but being I am not a Windows or Linux guy I am hesitant to post that information here since it may not be the same thing here on Rosetta.
It's just something in the file itself, this hack that you could put into clientstate.xml, but would it solve the issue? I do not know.

If you look on your tasks page on your profile here and goto the errors section, see if the tasks show up there as errors, if not then they just keep getting sent out again and again.
Instead of feeding us little bits of information, why not post a link to the main task if it is in the error section of your account.
I think with your computers hidden we can not look at the specific file stdrr_out text regarding your system, but if the same error occurred on another system, we could look at that.

You should know that RAH personnel do not read these forums. Or very rarely.
There is no dedicated IT guy here any more. In the old days we had one that kept up with problems reported here. A Mod used to relay stuff to the team, but I don't know if that person is around any more.

So unless they take notice, your SOL

Last resort email them at the Baker lab: Email: dabaker@uw.edu, Assistant: ipdadmin@uw.edu
You can try a twitter message, but it looks like they hardly do anything on twitter.

Surely the vdi file is just the virtual image of the task?

I've had about 50Gb of these download so far 48 tasks, all of which have failed.

i have no gb used by these vdi, despite a lot of download errors.
Can a reset of the project may help??
