Looking at my computer's resource monitor, rosetta is eating up 7 gigabytes out of a total of 16 gigabytes of my system memory. And with all other processes included, I've got 1 gig free out of 16. And the Rosetta project isn't even running (a World Community Grid project is running). That's too much memory and it is definitely messing up my computer's performance. I wish there were a configuration setting for max memory that boinc or a project can use. But I think you need to fix something. I'll have to unplug the Rosetta project if this continues. Thanks, JF |

I'll have to unplug the Rosetta project if this continues.Or you could reverse the changes you made that made it occur- In your Account, Preferences- When and how BOINC uses your computer, click on "Computing preferences" Memory When computer is in use, use at most 95 % When computer is not in use, use at most 95 % Leave non-GPU tasks in memory while suspended (deselect)Near the bottom of all the preferences is "Edit Preferences", then make sure "Leave non-GPU tasks in memory while suspended" is not selected. Click on "Update preferences". The next time BOINC contacts the servers (or if you click on Update for Rosetta in the BOINC Manager projects tab) the changes will take effect. No more system RAM used by inactive Tasks. Grant Darwin NT |

Run one or two less Rosetta tasks to save on the memory, that would equal your reducing the memory setting but yours would also cause very long running workunits. |

I also suggest limiting the percentage of CPUs BOINC is allowed to use. Limiting how much memory BOINC is allowed to use might cause tasks to fail. |

Click your profile name at the top taking you to your Account, click Computing preferences, then if you want to run it while using the computer i suggest limiting it to using 35% of your CPU and Memory if you're using a computer while running it, it's what i'm doing, i have a Gaming Laptop with the latest parts so it's doing well and i can get 2 Task done in... i'd say 2 and a half days but running it for 13/14 hours. If i want to play a game obviously i'll suspend it, i choose to do it all manually so i can choose when and where to use it . You could some days run it overnight if you wanted to and set it to something like 50% or 60% just so you don't risk overheating. It will do 2 Tasks at a time if you want that and share the CPU, Memory and also a bit of Graphics Card resources (if you have a good GC), and every now and then it will go over the limit set just to boost it a bit for a few seconds then go back down, but most the time it will stay in the set parameters. Make sure to click Project Commands in the BOINC Manager then Update to make it update the commands and make sure it's using your online preferences in the Computing prefs in Options, then it will get it right. The Tasks WILL fail at 15% and under though but it seems to do fine at 20% and over. |

You can also go into the Boinc Manager, down by the clock in Windows, and click on Option then Exclusive Applications and add in your gaming program and Boinc will automatically stop every time you open it. |

I don't have that on mine but i'm good with just exiting out of the software while i play a game then i'll reload it once i've done gaming, 6/7 hours left to go on 2 Tasks for Rosetta :D i gave it 40% memory and it's still not using a lot of memory so i may try to put it up to 45% but it stays down at 35% for CPU. So loving my new laptop lol it's a Dell Tuff Gaming one it's fantastic you should get one if you're ever in need of a new one. |

UMMM EVERY version of Boinc has it and you are using the latest version for Windows, but if you are okay the way it is stick with it. I also just got a new laptop mine is an Asus Tuff Gaming laptop and I love mine too. |
