Since a few days I get 0 new tasks? I have two PCs running the same project (Rosetta) on the same network. Since a few days I get 0 new tasks? Look at the queue. https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/server_status.php Too many new computers fighting for WUs = burning through the WUs. Sooo sorry - but you're in the same boat as the rest of us. I managed to get 4 Rosetta Mini tasks yesterday - but that was temporary. The Admin team mentioned something about an announcement in News today - but in the meantime, see the admin posts in the latest News thread, to see the latest. |

Com'on, what is going on?! Why no tasks in almost 2 days? I'm also interested. |

Stuck as well (https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/forum_thread.php?id=13675) I understand that people are working toward making this go away. It'd still be nice to have an idea when we might hope to see improvements. I wonder if there's anything we could do to help. |

Stuck as well (https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/forum_thread.php?id=13675) Just be patient, and understand as volunteers - the project has temporarily been overwhelmed with em, and needs time and resources to catch up and meet the demand. Stay calm, and let the team do their work. |

The project has had some 30,000 hosts attach in the last two days. So, while this is a great situation, it does create some growing pains. Rosetta will only send work that they need volunteers to complete. They never send jobs just to verify results of others, or just to keep machines counting up numbers. This makes your CPU available to other BOINC projects you may be attached to, rather than consuming it just so things appear to be progressing smoothly. There will be a new application and work units released later today. Thanks for your contribution to the project. Please see, Admin bcov's post about new application and creation of work units Rosetta Moderator: Mod.Sense |

Since a few days I get 0 new tasks? No problem. As Mod.Sense said - they've had a huge jump in available resources, meaning there's far less WUs to go around. That's completely wiped out their current queue. They are working on fixes - we just have to be patient. If you don't want to leave your computer Idle, consider looking into other projects, like World Community Grid, to crunch in the interim. |

I also have no Rosettas on my machines. A couple of us, ("us" being BOINCers), have been trying to get articles in the current affairs programs on national television. Aim: to get BOINC more generally known. I have found that people are ignorant of its existance, and keen to join when they have found it. Perhaps some have been more sucessful than me, our principle stations have not even acknowledged receipt of my mails. They are, of course, short handed at the moment. I would ALWAYS advise crunchers to have several projects connected to their machines, so they are not idle when an "emergency hump" occurs. World Community Grid has announced they are on-boarding a COVID-19 project that complements Rosetta's work. This project will be live ASAP. If you sign up for WCG with a "0" priority, BOINC will treat it as a backup project and will only fetch tasks when Rosetta has no work available. I encourage all of you who are not already donating to both projects to begin donating now in anticipation. Cancer or COVID, an idle CPU isn't saving anybody's life. And the fewer miscellaneous work units they've got left in their queue when this begins, the more of the system will be used to fight this pandemic. |

World Community Grid has announced they are on-boarding a COVID-19 project that complements Rosetta's work. Agreed. Every idle CPU is a wasted CPU. WCG's other projects are worthy of attention as well, but that they've got a COVID one incoming, even better. I've been crunching WCG with Rosetta since I started BOINC - and it's a pleasure to be able to contribute to both. |

>>> sign up for WCG I, and several others, left wcg about a year ago because of a series of incidents in their forums, it is absent from my machines now. I figured, however, I should crunch them again, at least while the current situation exists. So I tried... I cannot go in. I wanted to ask about this on the forum, it tells me I need to be logged in to post messages, at the top of the same screen is the "log out" poke point, I AM logged in, AND, I'm not!!! >>> sign up for WCG Well as a newer cruncher - I obviously wasn't around during those incidents. All I can suggest is you support other worthy projects until Rosetta can catch up. Good luck. |

I was at WCG for almost 16 years and decided to come here as it seemed to be a more useful project. I guess I have been VERY fortunate in the ability of my machines to stay busy. I have had a steady group of 1600 tasks since I came on board a couple of days ago. I have never seen it below 1000 and it's been staying steady at about 1560 the past 24 hours. I looked at WCG's potential Pandemic project and I'm skeptical as to how useful it could be. Admittedly, the description and announcements are all I can go on but it doesn't seem to address anything specific. I might have to wait for some announcement from someone at the Scripps Institute for more information. |
