BOINC is a community. Rosetta is a part of that. Your post was hidden because it was interfering with a team's Cafe thread. Teams may each have a Cafe thread to use as they wish (within the rest of the forum guidelines of course). This is done in the hopes of fostering team participation in Rosetta. Your question "whats this got to do with rosetta?", was essentially trying to steer the topic. Steering the topic, in someone else's thread, is what they call "threadjacking". I appreciate your enthusiasm for Rosetta. And I wish everyone had that. But don't let that get in the way of your sense of community and fellowship and acceptance of others as they are, even if you feel they could/should be different. When BOINC grows, we all benefit. You're either a social worker or a politician in real life. What a pile of PC nonsense. BOINC is a community. Rosetta is a part of that. This is done in the hopes of fostering team participation in Rosetta. Proudly Banned from Predictator@Home and now Cosmology@home as well. Added SETI to the list today. Since there is no way for the user community to contact the moderators reliably, I have established this sticky. Hopefully this will reduce the number of new threads started solely for the purpose of attracting the attention of the moderation team to a problem or complaint. Why has nobody posted any explanation or provided any news whatsoever as to the motives behind the 4 day delay with the XML stats update. The message board has lots of questions apropos and the various stats sites are all going crazy. If what you say above is true, then please furnish us patient, VOLUNTEER, crunchers with a little info. |

Seejay, the moderator is not the person that monitors the servers. That is why I've been quiet on the issue, because I have no other info. I see now DK has posted to the XML export thread that they now have the daemon rebuilt to export the stats, so that should address your concern. Rosetta Moderator: Mod.Sense |

Did you bring this to the attention of the project team (who and when)? Did they respond, and if so, when ? It would give some perspective on how responsive they truly are. It the stats issue was reported promptly, and it took them 4 or 5 days to respond, that's unacceptable. If they ignored your report, that's also unacceptable. (I don't really expect any answer to this - the mods are in perpetual CYA mode. In fact, it will probably be deleted as usual when I ask the hard questions that require factual answers.) Your posts are never deleted for being critical or tough to address. It is generally when you get more creative about describing someone then whether or not they are "responsive" that typically leads to trouble. What I did with the knowledge of the post being there is a moot point. The post alone should suffice. And any reaction to that on my part is by definition after that post. I would point out that noone EMailed the moderator with any concerns about the XML updates. It would seem like that would be a reasonable request to make of the users whenever something "unacceptable" is occuring. ...and no, I don't need 100 EMails about it. But one person could send one, with a link to the pertenant thread, and then post to the thread that they have done so, and that others need not do so. Rosetta Moderator: Mod.Sense |

There is no "email the moderator" link visible anywhere on any forums, and I haven't seen one anywhere else either. If you expect people to see that thread, it's over a year old! and probably 99 pages down in Number Crunching. Proudly Banned from Predictator@Home and now Cosmology@home as well. The thread I linked is in Number Crunching, is stickied, is on the first page, and is entitled "Rosetta moderator/admin email". There is also a link to this moderators contact point thread in the Project Information Index, which is stickied on all three boards. Rosetta Moderator: Mod.Sense |

There is also a link to this moderators contact point thread in the Project Information Index, which is stickied on all three boards. I guess that explains it. I have long since turned off stickies since there are so many of them that even on a high-res monitor, there are only 2 "live" threads visible at the bottom. It's still a less than desirable option since it requires exposing the user's personal email to people they don't know. The user has no way to know who's reading that anonymous email account. There are plenty of other privacy concerns in BOINC lately without having this blatant violation as the only method to get someone's attention. Sorry hugo, I see nothing. It looks like it is deleted not just hidden, thanks anyway Mod.Sense. You've been moderating away here for a while now, I better offer you a virtual beer, and say thanks for all the work, that goes for Mod9 too if you are still about, even just lurking :) |

I've created a thread for 5.82 and moved all the relevant posts I could find to that thread. Rosetta Moderator: Mod.Sense |

Why the HeCK are my posts being modded away and the only reason given is "Archiving" ? WHAT RULE WAS VIOLATED THAT WOULD CAUSE THIS? Angus... please read the EMail. Your posts were simply MOVED. MOVED does not equal oblivion. The EMail even tells you the threads moved to and from. You just had some posts in the moderator contact thread, which, as the first post explains, is kept clean periodically by moving posts that have been addressed. Rosetta Moderator: Mod.Sense |

"a small 50"?? If there are that many in question, it must be due to your preferences. When displaying a message board, check the dropdown box on the upper right where you select the order to display items. I'll "hide" and then "unhide" your post. Please confirm if you receive the automatic EMail or not. Rosetta Moderator: Mod.Sense |

I see now your post in a very long thread asking about where specific posts have gone. When a thread gets beyond your configured threshold, only the first xx posts are shown. And a link is provided to show the other posts, but it's rather well hidden between the first post of the thread, and the last of the xx posts you display at a time. If you click the link to see all the posts, you will see them. Rosetta Moderator: Mod.Sense |
