I keep getting computation errors on my rosetta work which is annoying me immensely. It seems about 2/3 of the work units fail, and I'm not sure there's much pattern to it. They aren't the DEFAULT units that failed recently either. I have aborted all queued Rosetta work and am considering whether I will bother with future Rosetta work. Argh! Rob |

Rob, the most common problem has been the General preferences setting for "Leave applications in memory". Choose yes. |

Ok, I had it on no, I'll try that out. Cheers, Rob |

I have done this and still get my share of these computation errors had 3 out of 5 jobs the other day. Visit us at Christianboards.org |

I have done this and still get my share of these computation errors had 3 out of 5 jobs the other day. After changing your preferences, you need to do a manual "UPDATE" from the Boinc Manager to load them, and probably restart BOINC. Also, if your "Switch Between Applications" time in General Preferences is too short, it will never reach a checkpoint (if this is an issue), and keep restarting or erroring out. Should be somewhere north of 120 minutes. Proudly Banned from Predictator@Home and now Cosmology@home as well. Added SETI to the list today. Temporary ban only - so need to work harder :) "You can't fix stupid" (Ron White) |

Since implementing the suggestion by Vester I have completed many work units successfully and with none erroring out. :) |

I've gotten back failure reports on my last 13 WUs. All appeared to have completed successfully, but when uploaded I got "Client Errors" on every one. The application is set on remaining in memory. Is the time setting for switching between applications critical (Mine had been set at 60 minutes- the recommended default setting on the preferences page.) Per the last post, I've set it to 120. Any one have any further suggestions? Gravity is just a scientific theory. We should also teach the religious view that God is pushing us down. |

If you are over-clocking you need to lower the speed. Check for overheating. All your work that has "client errored" is failing with the same exception (which I have not seen before) ... some of these have been successfully processed by other participants pointing to a problem with your computer. Are other projects still running Ok? Did you just install or change anything on your computer? (besides the 60-120 parameter) |

If you are over-clocking you need to lower the speed. Thanks, Paul, for looking at it. All my other projects are functioning (SETI, Einstein, Climate Prediction) and haven't experienced any other problem with my computer. The Rosetta WUs all seemed to run to completion on my end without incident. I didn't change the preferences to 120 minutes until I read the earlier post. If that makes a difference, my currently processing WU should properly report. I did reset the Rosetta Project after the last error report, and got new work, of which the current WU is the first to run since. Any suggestions or insights would be appreciated. While I feel the Rosetta Project is very worthwhile, if I can't do any good with it I'll concentrate on the others. Thanks, Roland Gravity is just a scientific theory. You are welcome. CPDN is a god torture test ... but there still may be an incompatibility. The reason I asked about changes is you had been returning work with out exceptions. Now all fail with the same exception ... sometimes this can be caused by hardware changes, or software installs/updates ... One more wild guess is to turn off the screen saver (if on) and try that ... Einstein@Home had a screen saver problem with some participants that I think they have tracked down and fixed ... can't think of anything else ... as I said, that is a new trap number and address ... |

You are welcome. Paul: For you info, the current unit I referred to did in fact properly report. However, the next one didn't. I have a low tolerance for frustration, and will probably reduce my computer allocation to Rosetta to allow more productive time be spent on Einstein and Climate. Thanls for taking the time to try to help. If you think of anything else, my email is rolandvincent@yahoo.com Roland Gravity is just a scientific theory.
