Well I mean no disrespect for the lucky ones who get their profiles on the 'user of the day' section, but why pick the ones that have no text when some people spend much time editing theirs. This guy for example: Profile for user 910 Team CFVault.com http://www.cfvault.com |

One of my favorites! I think they are chosen at random but making sure there are no repeats. This seems fair to me. You may want to suggest this to the BOINC developers. |

Well I mean no disrespect for the lucky ones who get their profiles on the 'user of the day' section, but why pick the ones that have no text when some people spend much time editing theirs. This guy for example: Excuse me, but I don't really see your point. It's an option for everybody to create a profile and upload a pic of their own choice. It doesn't say anywhere, that the profile pic must be of a certain standard or the text must have any specific oppinions or data about Rosetta or BOINC or anything! I have seen profile pics though, where I have thought, that some people either have a very weird sense of humour or no taste or decency! And todays' User of the Day, who only have a pic, but no text, so what? I have my cat in my profile, and I have the same pic and text in all the projects, I have accounts to, and I have been UOTD in 3 of them. So what? Does that mean that I can't be User Of the Day according to you unless I have expressed some very profound thoughts about the project? So, would you say that the profile, you linked to, would be more qualified to be UOTD than mine or your own? Again, it's totally voluntarily to create a profile and it's people's own choice what to put in it! And if a person feels that a pic present him/her just as well as any words, so what? so what? Mmmm where did I put those chill pills... please don't put words in my mouth I never said that someone should express "very profound thoughts about the project" in order to be UOTD. In fact I had seen your own profile and found it quite amusing. Seriously though, Fuzzy, all I''m saying is that if there's going to be a profile of the day, surely it would be nice if it actually WAS a profile - meaning I get to learn more about the user. Call me weird, but I love browsing the profiles and checking what people do, where they come from - I think it brings a lot to the project, a nice sense of community. PS: Say hi to Bouncer from me. so what? Hi Stephan! Want a Fukitol instead? :-P Seriously, I think some may have uploaded a pic and then wait till later with writing something. I remember that when I made my first profile, I had a hard time to figure out what I wanted to tell about myself, as I didn't wanted to become too personal. There are many weird people out there! Believe me, I found out first hand! I think people will get to know me through my posting, and I also think most people from the boards I post on, know me by now. But I have very strong reasons for keeping my anynymity. And others may have the same reasons, or some others, from their own decisions. The User of the Day lottery is based on profiles with pics, and we can discuss why the function is only based on pic-profiles! Why not also the profiles without pics??? I don't see why the profiles without pics, as you put it yourself, but only with text people have spent time to think of, shouldn't be in the lottery too? But as David said, you can post a suggestion for this on the BOINC message boards, I haven't checked if somebody else have, but you can look into it yourself. Everybody can read there but if you want to post, you'll need to create an account. And Bouncer Jupiter (which is also an alias!) says hi to you! Click the pic! And have a beer in the Cafe!
