Message 112639 - Posted: 7 May 2025, 10:12:35 UTC

Greetings . I have been using for a long time boinc and Rosetta on two computers , consistently. Since recently and with no apparent reason though , Rosetta has stopped working and stopped receiving tasks in one of them. I have done the obvious things ( remove project, add again . Reinstall boinc etc ). Although Rosetta is successfully attached to the boinc Client , it doesn't update even though I press the update button and doesn't fetch any work or my previous points . What should I do to investigate / solve this problem in order to start getting jobs done again ? [/img]

Exit BOINC. Give it 20 secs or so, then restart it.
Give it another 20 seconds or so, then in the BOINC Manager select View, Advanced view. Then Tools, Event log. Click on Copy all and post it here.

Edit- and there are issues with your other system with Tasks crashing , with what looks like memory related errors. Either RAM corruption, or not enough Virtual Memory (VM set to fixed amount instead of set to Auto).

Are you using IPv6? It's broken here when contacting some of the servers.

You need to edit the hosts file to force your system to use IPv4 or disable IPv6.

From a previous post by Greg_BE

It a IPV6 address error. A server went crazy so we use this work around to solve that:
Here how you do it...

open file explorer and then do this
Goto C:>Windows>System32>drivers>etc
find the hosts file

then:
Press the Windows key.
Type Notepad in the search field.
In the search results, right-click Notepad and select Run as. administrator and open the hosts file

then paste the following two lines:

128.95.160.156 boinc-files.bakerlab.org
128.95.160.156 bwsrv1.bakerlab.org

save the file.

If it gives you any trouble, then rename the original hosts file with a .old extenstion and create a new one but make sure you do not give it any extension. So make sure to 'save as' with 'all files' selected in file type. Windows needs to see it as a 'file'.
